Discover the real Nice — one street at a time
Meet the Street is a bilingual immersive mini-tour created and curated by Clare Catchpole, founder of English in Nice / Nice en Français.
Each edition focuses on one of Nice’s vibrant local streets — away from the tourist hotspots — and brings together adult English and French learners to explore the city through local connections.
Together, we meet artisans, entrepreneurs, creatives and community makers — the people who bring each neighbourhood to life.

Launched in 2023 on Rue Vernier, Meet the Street was selected as a 2024 finalist for the Simon Greenall Award, which recognises projects that build community through language learning.

Who can take part?
If you are already a member of English in Nice / Nice en Français, you can take part in Meet the Street events at no extra cost.
Whether you’re learning English or French, Meet the Street is designed to get you speaking — naturally, socially, and with purpose. By meeting the people who build local communities through their energy and passion, there’s no better way to feel truly connected to your city.
Each visit includes:
- A mini-tour in French and English
- A meet-and-greet with inspiring local hosts
- Optional café conversation afterwards
- Custom language resources available online
What level do I need?
We welcome all levels from A2 and up, with a mix of English and French learners/speakers in each group. That way everyone learns something new!

Would you like to host?
If you have an enterprise or association in Nice that you would like to showcase as part of a Meet the Street tour, please get in touch!
We’re always looking for inspiring local hosts to open their doors and share what they do. It’s informal, bilingual and genuinely friendly. Plus it only takes 10–20 minutes of your time to meet a group (maximum 8 people).
You can speak in French or English or both!
Hosting is:
- A chance to showcase your work / passion
- A great way to meet curious locals (and maybe future customers!)
- A rewarding, feel-good experience — no language perfection needed!
We provide full support in French and English. All you need to bring is your story and your smile.
