Does this sound familiar?

You’ve made the big move to Nice but once the excitement settles, it’s easy to feel a little stuck. You’re not a tourist, but you don’t quite feel integrated either.

You want to connect — but speaking in another language can feel overwhelming.

Apps and lessons help, but real conversations are different. You try to speak… and then don’t understand the reply. Confidence drops, and it’s easier to stay quiet.

Learning, Sharing, Connecting

Overcoming the language barrier is challenging — but it doesn’t have to be stressful or lonely.

This membership is for people who want to build their confidence through real-life conversations — not grammar drills or rote learning. It’s not about speaking perfectly. It’s about being understood, making connections, and enjoying the process.

Whether you’re learning English or French, the focus is on active, shared learning: discovering, exchanging, and using language in real situations that actually matter.

Feeling part of a community starts with using language in everyday moments — chatting over coffee or saying more than just ‘bonjour’ to a neighbour. That’s why this membership blends real-life experiences, friendly meet-ups and practical tools so you can learn naturally — and enjoy it.”

  • “I joined this conversation group because I was tired of feeling stuck in my head. Even though I knew the grammar, I didn’t feel comfortable in casual, real-world conversations, and I wanted a space where I could practise without judgement. We split each session equally between French and English.

It’s been a total game-changer for my confidence. I used to spend ages overthinking my sentence structure, but now I find myself using common phrases without that mental lag.

We recently did a really creative session where we walked around town recording local sounds. We used the recordings later as conversation starters in our session. It was such a fun, immersive way to really tune into sound and bring it into our learning.

The sessions aren’t always in the same venue, which keeps things interesting, and we get to learn more about our neighbourhood too. If you’re looking for a group that’s creative, welcoming, and actually gets you speaking, I can’t recommend them enough.”

FAQs

Do I need to be fluent to join?

No — it’s an English/French exchange for learners, so ideally you should speak one of the two languages fluently and for the other you should at least be able to hold basic conversations (A2 or above), but we don’t expect perfection! If you aren’t sure contact Clare and ask for a chat and she will advise.

Can I come to just one event to try it out?

Yes! You can either try a Walk & Talk which take place once a month and are free to join (you can sign up on the Events page) or you can sign up for a single month of the membership.

Are the events 50/50 in French and English?

We aim for a natural balance. Each event is lightly structured to ensure both languages are practised equally.

Do you provide lessons or corrections?

This isn’t a classroom — but Clare and the rest of the group offer support (it works more like an exchange). Each month learning resources are provided, plus tips for self-study and plenty of encouragement to help you improve as you go.

If you’re looking for traditional lesson, this isn’t for you.

What happens if I miss an event?

Missed events aren’t refunded, but there are four events per month, so hopefully you can attend the other three, plus you’ll still have access to the resources and monthly challenge.

Why a monthly subscription and not a per-class system?

Because the goal is long-term practice and belonging, not just drop-in lessons. A monthly model gives continuity, keeps motivation high, and makes it easier to build connections in the group.

What if I need to pause or stop?

No problem — you can cancel at any time, and rejoin later.

How does the monthly payment cycle work?

When you join, your first payment is taken straight away, and your membership runs for one full month from that date. After that, payments are renewed automatically on the same day each month (for example, if you join on the 15th, your next payment will be on the 15th of the following month).

This way, you always get a full month of membership — no matter when you start.

Can I cancel my subscription easily if I need to?

Yes — you’re always in control. Before each monthly renewal, Stripe sends you an automatic reminder email. If you decide to stop, you can cancel your membership online with just a couple of clicks, and no further payments will be taken.
